The Accumulator Bets: The Long Succession
An accumulator bet is one in which the player in question makes four or more selections. An accumulator bet is successive, in that all four (or more) choices must be victorious to make a profit. The term “fourfold accumulator” infers four selections were made while “fivefold accumulator” implies that five selections were chosen (and so on and so forth).
Let’s say that Mr. Jones places a £5 accumulator bet on Player I. He postulates that Player I will beat Player II, go on to defeat Player III, beat Player IV, and finally win against Player V. This is a fourfold accumulator in that Mr. Jones has bet on four different, successive competitions. If Jones even goes so far as to say that Player I (after emerging victorious from a competition with Player V) will defeat Player VI, he has just placed a fivefold accumulator bet.
If the odds on every competition were 1:1, and Player I beats all of his/her opponents, Mr. Jones will be returned a profit of £160. The more the odds are stacked against him, the bigger the return. Of course, Jones must understand that if Player I loses to any other competitor, he will receive nothing.
